Intersection and Rail Crossing Design and Cost Estimate

Service: Engineering | Project: Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale | Location: Perth, WA

Lycopodium was engaged to provide concept designs and associated cost estimates for roads as part of the Mundijong-Whitby District Structure Plan

Project Overview

As part of the Mundijong-Whitby District Structure Plan, Lycopodium was engaged to provide a cost estimate for the identified roads within the DSP. The estimates supported the Shire in preparing the required DCP which will act as legal arrangement between the Shire and specified landowner(s) to share the costs involved in construction of the respective transport infrastructure. Lycopodium completed the concept design and 100% intersection and rail crossing designs and cost estimating for the Mundijong-Whitby District Structure Plan area.

Safety in Design:

The road and drainage designs were undertaken in accordance with Austroads guidelines.

Environmentally Sustainable Development (ESD) Initiatives:

The stormwater drainage was designed in accordance with Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) techniques.

Key Issues / Outcomes:

The close proximity of intersections to the existing railway line required the design of free-flowing turn lanes or the banning of vehicle turn movements to prevent vehicles from queuing across the railway tracks.
